This database currently contains nucleotide sequences that appeared in Human Papillomaviruses 1994 and Human Papillomaviruses 1995 in both GenBank and EMBL formats, as well as protein translations of the coding regions, in SWISS-PROT format. Each type of file (GenBank, EMBL, SWISS-PROT) is stored in a different directory on the server. The files are in standard text (ASCII).
Also included in the database are alignment files of the papillomavirus genes and the LCR. Each gene has two alignments associated with it, one for nucleotides and one for amino acids. Each of the two alignments comes in two styles, (1)formatted, as though it were to be printed on a page, and (2) an "Intelligenetics-type" format designed to be imported into an alignment editor.
If you experience any problems using the files with software designed to handle these formats, please contact us and we will do our best to remedy the problem. Include as much specific information as you can about the nature of the problem. We have found that Netscape for Macintosh does not download text files (such as GenBank files) properly. You can read about this bug here.
